  1. Practice evaluating the four thoracic regions- mediastinum (cranial, middle, caudal), pulmonary parenchyma, pleural space, extra-thoracic structures.
  2. Identify the following anatomic structures: trachea, carina, right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, left ventricle, descending aorta, caudal vena cava, left crus of the diaphragm, right crus of the diaphragm, pulmonary lobar arteries, pulmonary lobar veins
  3. Understand why we can see soft tissue nodules within the lung parenchyma.
  4. Understand the difference between a structured vs. a non-structured interstitial pattern.
  5. Consider a different approach to thoracic radiology using the airway vs. non-airway disease paradigm.
  6. Understand why it was critical to get both a left and right lateral in this case.
