Meet the Patient

A 6 yr old female spayed mixed breed (Pug-like creature), presented 6 hours after being hit by a half-ton truck driven by her owner. She was BAR but extremely painful caudally and had a normal TPR. A 4” laceration was present on the caudoventral midline and she was paraparetic with markedly decreased, but not entirely absent, motor movement. She had good spinal reflexes and superficial sensation.
